Honor the metal snake

Within the steel beasts belly
you plunge through the night.
This ape has learned to command speed,
to race over land
by power of a thousand horses.
Feat worthy of sacrifice, worship and temple
now inconvenient when delayed.

You are slightly swayed in slumber,
piling up miles between then and now,
In this man-made microcosm,
you rest and still move,
you are motionless in motion.

But the beast will remember your disdain,
it will count the times without thanks,
and one day it will deliver you
to the bottomless depths of hell.
So as you step from its belly,
you better remember,
to always honor the metal snake.
