Nigredo
The rivers surface was smooth and silver. She was crouched at the bank, looking into the water.
Staring back at her were the eyes of the beast. Yellow and cruel they were. With slitted pupils and long, luscious lashes. Her hand came up to touch her skin, warm and smooth, so familiar and human. Moving her head, her hair fell across her face, brushed soft and golden across her cheek. Her lips were red and stained. The teeth behind them sharp. Made to cut and devour, made to kill. The yellow eyes filled with tears, the lips sneered, teeth gleaming. She was crying, no, she was growling. A deep, vicious sound escaping her mouth, made her throat hurt. And then she was laughing, throwing her head back. She was gasping for breath.
Looking back at her reflection, wild eyes stared at her, human hands touched her cheeks, the teeth of a beast had pierced her soft lips. A wicked, toothy smile split her face.
Madness.
